Amiyah: All right, let's spin the wheel and see what we have today.

    Poke: boom. Honeydew melons!

Amiyah: The wheel landed on honeydew, the pale green melon with a honey sweet heart. The hosts dug into a market favorite that tastes like summer.

Poke: Honeydew melons. Honestly a solid spin. Let us dig in.

  2. History

Poke: Let us go back in time. What is the story of honeydew melons?

Poke: Its smooth pale rind and gentle sweetness made honeydew a beloved choice at fruit stands and markets around the world.

  3. Fun Facts

Amiyah: Okay, hit me with the fun facts.
Poke: A ripe honeydew has a smooth, slightly waxy rind.

    Amiyah: Wait, really?

Poke: The flesh is pale green and very juicy.

Amiyah: Okay, that is so good to know.

Poke: Honeydew is part of the same family as cantaloupe and cucumber.

Amiyah: I did not know that at all.

Poke: It is often served chilled to bring out the sweetness.

  4. Varieties

Amiyah: Let us talk varieties. What is out there?
Poke: Honeydew and its melon cousins share a sweet, refreshing character.

    Amiyah: I am listening.

Poke: Green honeydew is the classic, with pale green sweet flesh.

Amiyah: Orange fleshed honeydew is a sweeter, sunset colored cousin.

Poke: Okay, that is so good to know.

Amiyah: Galia melon is a netted cousin with a fragrant flavor.

  5. World Use

Amiyah: Now let us take a trip. How is it used around the world?
Poke: In China, honeydew is enjoyed fresh and in cool drinks.

    Amiyah: That tracks.

Poke: In Spain, sweet melon is paired with cured ham.

    Amiyah: Wait, really?

Poke: In the United States, honeydew is a staple of summer fruit platters.

Poke: Across many cultures, honeydew is blended into smoothies and sorbets.

  6. Myth

Amiyah: Let us bust a myth. What have we got?
Poke: A lot of people think some believe a honeydew is ripe only when it is bright green inside.

Amiyah: See, this is why I love this show.

Poke: Here is the truth. Ripeness is judged by a creamy colored rind, a sweet smell, and a slight give at the blossom end, not just the color of the flesh.

  7. Fan Question

Poke: We have a Fan Question of the Week. Here it is.
Poke: How do you pick a ripe honeydew?

    Amiyah: Love this question.

Amiyah: Look for a rind that has turned creamy rather than bright green, give it a gentle sniff for a sweet aroma, and feel for a slight softness at the end.

  8. Host Opinions

Amiyah: Here is where I land on this one, no sugar coating.
Amiyah: Not my usual pick, but I respect it, and I would give it a fair shot.

Poke: Okay okay, fair, I will allow it.

Amiyah: Amiyah loves honeydew chilled and cut into cool cubes.

Poke: Poke prefers it blended into a refreshing melon cooler.

Poke: I mean, you are not wrong, but you are also very dramatic about it.

  9. Lightning Round

Amiyah: Time for the Fun Fact Lightning Round.
Amiyah: Honeydew grows on trailing vines.

Poke: The rind smooths out as the melon ripens.

Amiyah: It pairs well with mint and lime.

Poke: Chilling makes it taste even sweeter.

  10. Recap

Amiyah: So what did we take away from this one?
Poke: The hosts learned that honeydew is a smooth skinned, honey sweet melon enjoyed chilled around the world, and ripeness comes from smell and feel more than color.
